Anoushka Salon

Interview Summary :

Actor Mahmoud Hemida was a guest on Anoushka Salon show in the first episode of the second season, and artist Anoushka described Mahmoud Hemida while glancing at him as “affectionate”. He embraces everything around him and she knows this from personal experience, although it appears that he is conceited, serious and strict. One of the great things about his interview with Anoushka was that she they sang the song “3 Salamat” together.
Hemida: I set up barriers between me and people, because I used to be mocked for being shy by my friends. So, perhaps I do this to hide my shyness, and because I am emotional and I do not want to reveal that. Maybe, that is due to my upbringing where we are taught that men don’t cry.
Hemida: I have always become close to tears, but 40 years ago I only cried twice. In both times, I had nervous breakdowns and I was 17 years old.
Hemida: Revealing our feelings and emotions is not always an option.
Hemida: I never stood in front of mirrors, and when I did, it was to do my hair, and I would not look closely.
Hemida: The most important thing I want my daughters to learn is to keep their minds open and receptive and to do whatever they want.
Hemida: Those who have daughters have the ability to spread goodness to the world.
Hemida: Rumors will never stop.
Hemida: I worry about making jarring sounds when signing. If I sang, people would probably throw bricks or tomatoes at me.
Hemida: I always listen to many types of music, and the singers’ value always remains more worthy than what I can digest, like: Sherifa Fadel, Hoda Sultan, Laila Mourad, Karem Mahmoud, Abdel Wahab, and of course, Umm Kulthum.
Hemida: I keep all my books and I never lend to my books no matter who wants to borrow them. I once lent someone a rare book of mine by Ahmed Pasha Taymour on geology; half of it was on popular proverbs and the other half was about geology. I am also used to re-reading my books.
Hemida: I was robbed of my childhood and any human being who skips a particular stage is bound to live it. I have started to experience my childhood after I turned 45 when I interact with my children and the children of others and I do not abstain from showing affection anymore.
Hemida: Fayez Ghali saw me acting in 19 Haret El Shorafa on Egyptian TV, where I was discovered by the Director Ahmed Khadr. It was written by Mohamed Galal Abdel Qawi. So Fayez Ghali nominated me for Al Imbrator and the second film I did was Al Masateel by Hussein Kamal. This role was assigned to me by chance as well. In Fares Al-Madina, Fayez Ghali was the who nominated me to Mohamed Khan.
Hemida: I cannot stand restrictions.
Hemida: I was going up to Olga and she dismissed me and said, “You’re stupid.”
Hemida: There is no need to impose anything on my daughters, and both my parents do not agree with the way in which I raise my girls because we are in a society that undervalues woman, but I do not.. I let them do whatever they want, and I do not direct them, but if they want my opinion, they are free to ask for it.
Hemida: I feel honored when I work with well-established actors such as Amina Rizk and Abdullah Ghaith.
Hemida: People asked me how much I got paid for Al Imbrator, then I told them that Ahmed Zaki and I earned 1200, he would get 1000 and I would get 200 excluding 20% tax. When I say that to my students, they do not believe me.
Hemida: I consider Ahmed Khedr a very noble person; he goes headhunting for new talents at theaters to join the well-known actors on TV.
Hemida: I enjoy being at work, at home, with my children, and while playing with my grandchildren.
Hemida: I am mostly content when accompanied by my family and friends, but I wasn’t inherently like that. I am very introverted, I mean, for 16 years I didn’t have friends, I had only one friend, because I considered friends a burden that would hinder my progress in life.
Hemida: I never deny credit or who helped me out.. Mr. Ahmed Khedr was the person who introduced me to TV, and Fayez Ghali was the one to help me get into filmmaking and we didn’t even know each other, and many others.
Hemida: I am indebted to Khairy Shalaby because he introduced me to people whom I did not know.
Hemida: Love stories in my life are so many.. The first love in my life was Suheir, my wife and the mother of my daughters. I fell in love with her when I was 5 years old and she was one year younger than me.
Hemida: When we were teenagers, we parted ways, then we got married.
